The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2014 was won by Italy, but RAI will not host the contest in 2015. Two other countries have however expressed interest in hosting the 2015 edition.
After Vincenzo Cantiello won the contest for Italy in November, RAI had the first option of hosting Junior Eurovision 2015. After a few months of talks and meetings, RAI have now decided they can not host the competition. JESC Executive Supervisor Vladislav Yakovlev said:
Over the past couple of months, we have had detailed discussions with RAI of Italy about the possibility for them to host this year’s contest. Unfortunately they are not in a position to hold the competition in Italy, but we thank them immensely for looking into the possibility of hosting. That an organisation such as RAI would explore all possibilities to host Junior Eurovision, despite only having taken part once, shows that Junior Eurovision is heading in the right direction.
However, two other countries are interested in hosting the 2015 competition. It has not been announced which two countries are now bidding to let the competition take place in their respective countries, but a decision is expected to be announced at the end of this month.
