Two weeks before the first Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins semifinal, escXtra.com catches up with one of the most well known participants in this year’s Icelandic national final. She already represented her country in the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest as part of Euroband, tried her luck solo in 2012 and now she is back: Regína Ósk!
escXtra.com: Hey Regína! Thanks for doing this interview. How are you preparing for Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins 2015?
Regína: I have of course been prucing the song and recording it. Then I am working on the performance, how to stage it and of course finding the right dress to were!
X: Who are your musical idols?
R: My musical Idols are e.g. Stevie Wonder, Karen Carpenter, George Michael, Alicia Keys and I can go on and on….
X: You’ve been to Eurovision before, in 2008. How do you look back on that adventure?
R: I look back with a smile on my face 🙂 It was wonderful from A-Z.
X: You also tried to represent Iceland in 2012 with Hjartað Brennur. How was that experience for you?
R: It is always fun to participate. It´s one of the biggest TV shows here in Iceland and it´s a a great chance to promote new song.
X: Why did you decide to apply for Söngvakeppnin 2015?
R: It was not on my plan to do this 🙂 But I liked the song and how it made me feel.
X: What can you tell us about your song Aldrei Of Seint?
R: It´s a beautiful song about life. I’m singing about how we need to stop sometimes and just be and enjoy life.
X: What’s your favourite place in Iceland?
R: I always love to visit Akureyri.
X: Do you still watch Eurovision every year?
R: Of course!
X: Do you have an all time favourite Eurovision song?
R: I have many favorites, but my all time favourite is “Non ho l’età“.
