In the weeks before A Dal 2015, we speak to the participants who are hoping to represent Hungary in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015. Today, we once again speak to a newcomer: Timi Antal! Read what she had to say below!
escXtra.com: Hey Timi! First of all, thanks for doing this interview! How are you, a few weeks before A Dal starts?
Timi Antal: We are preparing for the show in full swing, we have rehearsals every day, we are all so excited.
X: Could you introduce yourself to us?
T: 🙂 I was born in Bánffyhunyad, in Erdély (Romania). I’ve been singing since I was a child, I participated in many song contests nationwide and abroad as well, fortunately most of them I won. I also participated in X-Factor Hungary in 2012 and I came in second. Since then I have released two albums, one of which is a gold record.
X: Who are your musical idols?
T: I get inspiration from numerous artists and bands. Some of my favorites are Jessie J, Pink and Magdi Rúzsa from Hungary, who is an actual role model for me as she appeared in a song contest as well and has had huge success since.
X: Do you think the fact that you’ve been in a music competition (X Faktor) before gives you an advantage in A Dal?
T: I don’t think that I have any advantage. This show is about professional artists singing their own songs, not young talents who don’t have much experience. This is a new challange for me too, because in X-Factor I was an ’amateur’, I stood on stage with other artists’ songs, but here I have to stand the ground with my own one.
X: Could you tell us more about your song Woke Up This Way?
T: ’Woke Up This Way’ is a very energetic and dynamic song, written by Miklós Malek and Dimitri Ehrlich. Miklós was my mentor in X-Factor. We’ve been planning a collaboration since, I love this song and feel that it’s really about me. Miklós knows me well and I was involved all the way through while the song was being written. We just call it ’bossy song’, because it’s about those days, when you get up in a bad mood and hate everything around you. I think everyone can identify with the message of the song easily, because we all have bad days and it feels good to just shout and let it all out through a song.
X: Why did you decide you want to go to Eurovision?
T: The biggest honour for me as an artist would be to represent my own nation in such a high standard international contest.
X: What’s your favourite place in Hungary?
T: I think that we live in Europe’s best country, with amazing features and landscapes. I live in Budapest and I adore it. I love walking along the bank of the Danube and watching the night lights up from the Citadella!
X: What’s your favourite thing to eat or drink?
T: I love eating! But you couldn’t tell it looking at me. 😀 😀 😀
X: Are you a Eurovision fan?
T: Yes, I follow the show every year.
X: Do you have an all time favourite Eurovision song?
T: Yes, there is. It’s ’Euphoria’ which I sang in X-Factor too.
X: Finally, do you have a message for the readers of escXtra.com?
T: Sending all my love to every reader of escXtra.com. Have fun watching the contest, I hope you will enjoy the show and like my song as well. Xoxo -Timi!
