This Saturday, A Dal is having its second show. It’s time for New Level Empire to fight their way to the semifinals once more. Last year, they came in fifth in the final with The Last One. This year, they’re back, with Homelights. Read what they had to say below!
escXtra.com: Hey guys! First of all, thanks for doing this interview! How are you, a few weeks before A Dal starts?
New Level Empire: Thank you, we are fine. Can’t wait for the show!
X: Could you introduce yourself to us?
NLE: New Level Empire is a vocal, modern dance-based live act group, with live instruments, such as guitar, keyboard and electric drums, intended to revive the electronic music. The current lineup came together in the autumn of 2013. The founder and drummer of the band is a techno DJ, Sándor Nyujtó aka “Newl”. Our keyboard player, Péter Krajczár is a songwriter as well. Petra Mayer aka “Shizuka” is also a well-known DJ of the national station, MR2 Petőfi Radio. Our frontman is Zoltán Szilveszter Ujvári aka “Zola”. He is a songwriter/singer/guitarist who came from the rock scene. The members of the band arrived from various genres and maybe that’s what makes the results of this teamwork so interesting.
X: You were in A Dal 2014, reaching the final with The Last One. Why did you decide to return to A Dal once more?
NLE: It was an amazing experience, a joyful time for us! We had great moments there and we would have missed it this January… 🙂
X: What would representing Hungary in Eurovision mean to you?
NLE: It would be a great honour for us. As it should be for everyone.
X: Do you think your experience from A Dal 2014 can help you this year?
NLE: Of course it can! Now we know what to expect. We have more routine and maybe less jitters…:)
X: Could you tell us more about your song Homelights?
NLE: This song is about the way you try to bring the safe feeling of childhood to your grown up life. People have certain circumstances in childhood when they have a sense of comfort. For example the lighting in our rooms and the warmth of our home. These are the little things that keep us feeling safe. When we grow up, we try to find these little details to make our adult life feel cozier. Homelights is basically an energetic sentimental song.
X: What’s going to be your special ingredient to win A Dal this year?
NLE: The first impression of our song, the emotional live performance or something inexplicable that lies between the audience and us… 🙂
NLE: Our studio. 🙂 There are lots of great towns, we can’t choose only one… Newl likes Sopron, Shizuka and Peter are from West-Hungary, so they like their hometowns and those regions. Zola likes Balatonaliga and Duna-kanyar.
X: What’s your favourite thing to eat or drink?
NLE: Last year when we participates in A Dal, we had lunch together every Saturday before the show in a diner style American restaurant. Now it became a tradition. 🙂
X: Do you have an all time favourite Eurovision song?
NLE: Yes, it’s Kinek mondjam el vétkeimet? by Friderika Bayer. It was the best Hungarian Eurovision song ever.
X: Finally, do you have a message for the readers of escXtra.com?
NLE: Thank you for all the support and love last year, we hope you’ll stay with us and we can achieve something great together this year as well! 🙂
escXtra.com would like to thank New Level Empire for their time and we’d like to wish them the best of luck in Saturday’s show of A Dal. Watch their song Homelights below!
