She’ll be the youngest act taking the stage tonight. With just sixteen years of age, Elín Sif Halldórsdóttir will try to fight her way through to the final of Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins. She will try to do that with the song Í Kvöld. Read what she had to say below!
escXtra.com: Hey Elín! Thanks for doing this interview! At 16 you’re writing and studying music – do you have ambitions of where you want music to take you when you are older?
Elín Sif Halldórsdóttir: I like to include music in everything I do, so what ever I will be doing in my life, I think music will be a part of it.
X: Who are your musical inspirations?
E: Female artists that inspire me are: Coeur de pirate and Emiliana Torrini, but musically I try to get inspiration from many directions.
X: I read that the song you say best describes you is ‘Come on Eileen’. That’s an interesting choice!! Why so?
E: That was just a joke because my name is Elín.

E: I have always been a fan of the Eurovision song contest. Like I have said before, my favourite Eurovision song is the 2011 contribution from Finland by Paradise Oskar. He really inspired me.
X: Away from music, what are your three favourite things to do in your spare time?
E: Spending time with my friends, writing and taking walks.
X: The song was not specifically written for Eurovision – if you got to Vienna do you think you would make any changes to the music or the presentation for such a big stage?
E: No, probably not, I think I would like to keep it simple.
X: Do you plan to play the guitar on stage?
E: Yes.
X: Some important questions to finish!!… Favourite day of the year (and why)?
E: The last day of school before summer brake. Because, that’s always a happy day.
