Various reports quoting General Directorate of TRT, Senol Gökan state that Turkey will return in the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest.
Turkey’s last appearance in Europe’s favourite show was in 2012 when Can Bonomo finished seventh with the song Love Me Back. Turkey withdrew after the Eurovision in Baku, with the Turkish broadcaster claiming a disagreement upon certain rules in the contest.
Turkey has a strong base of Eurovision fans. The country debuted in 1975 and finally won the contest in 2003. Sertab Erener triumphed with the song Everyway That I Can, in one of the closest contests in the history of the Eurovision Song Contest.
