Nevertheless, we bring you the next best thing… an overview of each of the twelve participating entries and all the details you need to cast your online votes right now!

Meet Arina Pehtereva

12-year-old Mogilev-born Arina Pehtereva was internally-selected by BTRC and will perform “Aliens” in Sunday’s contest. The song was written by Daniil Zabela.

In an interview with junioreurovision.tv, Arina explains that her connection to music began at age 6, when she began voice lessons at school. She names Bilie Eilish as her idol and is also a fan of Ariana Grande and Jessie J.

About the lyrics of ‘Aliens’, she said the following:

The song was written in spring when the coronavirus spread around the world. The idea of my song is simple: The world has stopped, borders have closed, people can no longer visit each other and even the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2020 is different. But I believe that the future is in our hands, and it is up to us children to save the world and make it better!

Belarus in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest

The Junior Eurovision Song Contest has always been held in high regard in Belarus. Their debut in the 2003 edition actually took place before they ever participated in the adult version, and managed an impressive fourth place.

A mere two years later, Belarus won the contest in 2005 with Ksenia Sitnik and her song ‘My Vmeste’. They worked their magic again in 2007, this time with Alexey Zhigalkovich and his song ‘S Druz’yami’. Belarus have hosted the contest twice, in 2010 and 2018. Their most recent participant, Liza Misnikova, placed 11th with ‘Pepelny’.
