Spoon Youth’s dance to TOY is impressively approaching 300,000 views on Facebook. Furthermore, shortly after we wrote about the video, Netta herself heaped praise and love on the Ugandan group… and deservedly so!

Who are the Spoon Youth crew?

From the Namuwongo slum in the Ugandan capital city of Kampala, the Spoon Youth crew are is a youth group whose biggest passions are traditional African dancing and African street dance. Supported by the non-governmental organisation “little light Uganda”, Spoon Youth hopes that their group can create a brighter future for everyone involved in the project.
Their aim is to “fight negativity in the community and build unity among the youths in Namuwongo slums”. In addition, the group also “carries out general cleaning of the community” as well as “early pregnancy, sexual harassment, HIV & drug abuse sessions”.
