Best known as the host entrant for Serbia in the 2008 contest, hosted in Belgrade, Jelena Tomasevic’s musical output is still going strong over 12 years on.

Over a decade on from her Eurovision participation, Jelena’s output is still going strong as she releases her latest single “Diraj mi usne”.

The single was released by Jelena independently. The lyrics were written by Goran Kovačić, who is also responsible for the guitar accompaniment. The video was produced by VODAVODA. The song is perfect for late summer, with a distinctly smoky and Mediterranean vibe.

Jelena Tomasevic’s Eurovision journey

Prior to her triumphant performance in 2008, Jelena had attempted to represent Serbia & Montenegro in both 2004 and 2005, respectively. In 2005, she narrowly missed out on the ticket, having placed 2nd in the national final Evropesma with “Jutro“. Notably, the epic ballad was written by Serbian Eurovision veteran Željko Joksimović, who won Evropesma the year before with “Lane Moje”.

Of course, she ended up getting her chance in 2008, when she won the new selection, Beovizija, topping both the jury and televote. In the final, cheered on by the home crowd, she placed 6th in the Grand Final with 160 points.
