🍒 The Second Cherry podcast returns for 2021

Who will get a second bite of the cherry?

The team are back with a new series of ‘Second Cherry: Almost a Eurovision podcast‘ and the weekly shows have already begun!

About the podcast

Second Cherry is the podcast that revives the songs that didn’t make it to the Eurovision Song Contest. Each week, former ESCXTRA editor Matt and co-host Monty take you through a different country’s national final and pick the cherry that they think deserves a second chance; a second bite of the cherry. At the end of the series the listeners vote online for their favourites (as the ‘televote’) and at a live event the team crown the winner of the Second Cherry Song Contest. You can read up on how the vote worked in last year’s contest here.

The series has already kicked off, so to find out what ‘cherries’ have been picked for the Second Cherry Song Contest 2021 so far, you can catch up on each episode below…

About the live event

The 2019 results formed part of the regular Eurovision night Eurofest, held at London’s Royal Vauxhall Tavern. Like all live events at public venues, plans for the second chance fan contest in 2020 were dashed by the pandemic. Due to restrictions, the event was instead hosted online. Whether the live show will return for 2021 will be announced in the coming months, depending on the UK’s pandemic response by the autumn.

You can subscribe to the Second Cherry podcast via your usual platforms such as Apple Podcasts | Android | Google Podcasts | Spotify. You can also listen over at the website SecondCherry.vision.

The reining champion from the 2020 edition is Finland’s Erika Vikman with “Cicciolina”.
