We're in this together listening to Alexandra's new solo release!

Recent weeks have seen sport finally return to our screens for the summer. Later this December Norway and Denmark will co-host the EHF EURO 2020 Women’s Handball Championships and they have invited Alexandra Rotan to write and perform the official anthem ‘We’re In This Together.’

We’re In This Together

This week KEiiNO’s Alexandra Rotan announced a new passion project of her own. Despite being busy with the release of debut album OKTA, Alexandra went back to her childhood roots in handball. In her formative years, she was a keen player of the sport.

This is huge for me! I have played handball myself until I was 18, so this means a lot to me. In addition, I have traveled extensively around Europe and played with my band KEiiNO. Now it’s going to be fun to play for the amazing handball crowd.

Through the Handball is Passion project, Alexandra recorded the official anthem for the Women’s European Handball Championship 2020. Together with producer Christian Sol, Alexandra wrote and recorded ‘We’re In This Together.’ Also featuring in the production are: Stian Larsen on guitar, Sarah-Erin Hurtado Bye on violin, Blåsemafian on drop and Simen Sandnes on drums.

The official draw ceremony took place yesterday in Vienna, Austria. During which the song was given its first reveal. Whereby Alexandra recorded a live performance aired following the draw. Later this year the tournament will take place in Norway and Denmark from the 3rd-20th December. The song is a celebration of teamwork and passion through a symphony of beats, brass and banging drums. Everything you want in a sporting anthem! Together with Alexandra’s stunning vocal the handballers are going to have a summer party in Nordic winter.

Alexandra Rotan’s path to Eurovision

Back in 2010 a very young Alexandra Rotan took part in Melodi Grand Prix Junior. She would reach the final with ‘Det vi vil‘. Although by this time, Norway had stopped taking part in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Later once becoming a developing artist, Alexandra joined Alan Walker on his 2017 European tour.

Next year would see Alexandra take front and centre stage in her first attempt to crack Eurovision. She helped Stella Mwangi come back with a bang in Melodi Grand Prix 2018 with the infectious ‘You Got Me‘. The duo just missed out on the Super-Final, but it got Alexandra hungry for more. Last year Alexandra joined forces with Fred Buljo and Tom Hugo to form the supergroup KEiiNO.

Through ‘Spirit In The Sky’ they took Norway and the world by storm. Winning the televote in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 and finishing in sixth place. Since then the group have toured from Europe to Australia with their stream of traditional, indigenous infused bangers.
