🇪🇸 Ruth Lorenzo performs balcony concert during coronavirus lockdown

Crises encourage people to stand together. As the Eurovision fandom stands together a day after the cancellation of the 2020 contest, we also see Spain’s Eurovision 2014 star, Ruth Lorenzo, performing a balcony concert in Spain. The country is currently in a lockdown situation due to the coronavirus.

A message of hope from Ruth Lorenzo

The balcony performances aren’t new. Recently, we saw many people singing together all over Italy amidst their lockdown. They even sang Diodato’s “Fai Rumore”, which was going to be Italy’s entry this year, together.

Ruth Lorenzo takes a simple, but very effective approach. Sitting on her balcony with a microphone, she opens with her Eurovision song from Copenhagen, “Dancing In The Rain”. Obviously, her next song simply had to be the one she wowed everyone with during her time on X Factor: “Purple Rain”. In her Facebook post, which you can see below, Ruth Lorenzo dedicates the song to her good friend and fellow Eurovision 2014 entrant: Conchita Wurst. Apparently, she still owed Conchita a “Purple Rain”.

The Spanish songstress gives it her all for the people listening and, judging by the applause, they really appreciate what she did for them. Earlier that day, she also gave them a stunning rendition of “Nessun Dorma”, which you can see on Twitter.

Ruth Lorenzo shared her concerts as a message of hope. Stating that she felt the need to sing, she says the country will come out of this stronger than ever.

Spain is currently in a complete lockdown situation over the coronavirus outbreak. Over 14,500 people have been infected, with nearly 600 people deceased.
