Who sings for Austria? – Nine acts revealed

According to tv-media.at, Austria has revealed which acts are going to participate in their national final, Wer Singt Für Österreich?
The selection committee, led by Eberhard Forcher and Stefan Zechner, decided to go with young and local talent. There are very few well known names on the list, with only a former Miss Austria and one of last year’s participants sounding somewhat familiar.
The list of nine acts:

  • Bella Wagner
A Viennese singer, who attended the Prayner Music School in Vienna and has a distinctive voice, reaching from jazz to pop.
  • Célina Roschek & Farina Miss
A former Miss Austria, who now plays the violin, teaming up with a jazz singer.
  • Elly
This 17 year old was born in Armenia and had her first steps in music a while ago, when she won the Prima La Musica talent competition.
  • Lia Weller
Brazilian born Lia participated in Starmania 2008 and that got her a decent start in music, but she’s now hoping to really kick things off with Eurovision.
  • LiZZA
Another young act: With just 19 years of age, LiZZA has just signed her first record deal. Her musical idols are Adele, Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift – so just mainstream music.
  • Orry Jackson
Born in Bonn, Germany, Orry developed a style which he now calls German Soul. The 26 year old has often worked with DJs and boybands.
  • Sankil Jones
Sankil has been trying to go to Eurovision for years. Several social media campaigns were started to convince ORF, but it never helped this USA raised singer. 2016 is the year where he’s getting a shot at the ticket to Stockholm.
  • Vincent Bueno
Adding to a mix of different cultural backgrounds in this line-up, 30 year old Vincent has roots on the Phillipines. He mainly does musical theatre, like Mamma Mia.
  • Zoë
The best known name to Eurovision fans. Zoë already entered the competition in 2015 with her Quel Filou, but didn’t get the ticket to Vienna. She’s hoping for more luck this time!

The tenth artist for Wer Singt Für Österreich? will be revealed at a later date. This act will be chosen in a wildcard round. The five acts competing there are Laura Kamhuber, Ola Egbowon, AzRaH, Sara Koell and David Siedl. The vote will take place in two days.
The eventual final of WSFÖ? will take place in exactly one month, on 12th February 2016. We will then find out which act will get the honour of following in The Makemakes’ footsteps, hopefully securing a better result…
