Lisbon 2000: Nicki French – Don’t Play That Song Again (United Kingdom)

While we’re in Lisbon thanks to, what I’d like to call, an uncomplicated winner in 1999, the uncomplicated sound dominates in 2000 too. As much as I like how Denmark surprised the field and won the show convincingly, it was not my favourite.
I really like Latvia’s effort, but as Wivian picked that as her winner, I’m quite happy I have another favourite that year. Latvia sits in second, just ahead of Austria’s All To You. The crown has to go to the United Kingdom. As I said, I really like that uncomplicated sound and Nicki French delivered. I could hear this song every day, just sit back and enjoy how this sounds.
Where would the United Kingdom host the contest if they’d won it in 2000? No idea, so I’ll just go with Manchester.
