🇮🇪 Lesley Roy releases new single ‘Gold’

Listen to this golden tropical treasure!

New Music Friday ends our weeks and delivers yet more Eurovision lockdown goodies. There’s a pot of ‘Gold’ at the end of this Irish rainbow as Lesley Roy shares her follow up single to ‘Story of My Life’.

A golden Summer

Earlier this week Lesley Roy teased the release of new single ‘Gold’. Now the song co-written by Lesley and producers, Alberto Beeck and Ricky Mears in LA is here! The angsty rock chick from ‘Story of My Life’ has been shed for a laid back EDM laced bop. This is that anthem for those feeling the golden Summer vibes and familiar with Lesley’s DJ work. The fresh cocktail and lightness needed in these dark times. From the first bars of warmth when the piano melody starts, to the beat drop that makes you wish for the return of beachside pool bars. This is all wrapped in the soothing waves of Lesley’s vocal as she evokes the Japanese art of Kintsugi. This is the metaphor of healing a broken heart and relationship with ‘Gold.’

So let me fix the pieces,

Let me stop the bleeding,

I know your heart is broken, broken, broken,

So let me fill it up with gold.

Lesley Roy and the Eurovision Song Contest

At the start of 2020, RTÉ selected Lesley Roy to represent Ireland in the 2020 contest, with the song ‘Story of My Life’. Lesley co-wrote the song with Catt Gravitt, Robert Marvin & Tom Shapiro. Despite the cancellation of Eurovision this year, little has stopped her from entertaining Europe. From the Home Concerts to performing online at Dublin Pride, music still connects us in these difficult times. However it is still unclear if Lesley will be representing Ireland at the 2021 contest in Rotterdam. But once travel restrictions are lifted she will return to Dublin to record more music, ready to answer Ireland’s Eurovision calling. As well as booking gigs in Dublin, London and Stockholm.
