New logo for Eurovision 2021 has been revealed

What do you think about the new 2021 official Eurovision logo?

The Dutch organising team has released the new official logo for the Eurovision Song Contest 2021.

The new 2021 logo has been chosen to emphasise connection and togetherness, and reflects the desire to positively look ahead rather than back on a difficult 2020 for many. Like last year, the new logo has been developed by agency Clever ° Franke. Whereas the old 2020 logo was a ‘data-driven visualisation based on the flags of all participating countries’, the 2021 logo is inspired by the world map with Rotterdam as the beating heart of Europe in May 2021.

“The logo connects Rotterdam with the capitals of the participating countries and symbolises coming together, regardless of the form”

Sietse Bakker, Executive Producer of the Eurovision Song Contest 2021

The concept explanation

Explanation of the new 2021 logo

The design of the 2020 edition was awarded a European Design Award and a Red Dot Design Award. Clever ° Franke co-founder Gert Franke said they “extended the style from last year to 2021” and retained the “simple, intelligent, minimalist and experimental” elements. The new design also adds a “festive touch, to celebrate the return of the Eurovision Song Contest.”

The show must go on!

Furthermore, Sietse Bakker took the opportunity to reiterate the belief that next year’s contest will go ahead no matter what.

“Thanks to developments regarding vaccines and reliable rapid tests, we are now cautiously optimistic about what can be done responsibly in May. And all of Europe is now watching us. With creativity and decisiveness, inspired by that typical Rotterdam resilience, we are going to make something very special out of it, I am convinced of that!”
