Nathan Trent, 24, has been selected to represent Austria following an internal selection by their broadcaster ÖRF. The song will be revealed at a later date.
The young singer-songwriter, who specialises in pop and R&B, was born in Innsbruck in 1992 and raised bilingually in German and Italian. He grew up playing violin and piano from a young age and grew up in a theatre-based environment, performing in a variety of plays and musicals.
Not only a singer, Nathan Trent has also taken on acting roles. According to the press release from Eurovision.tv, “he participated in productions with famous Austrian actors in the prestigious Theater in der Josefstadt and was part of a short movie called Eisland“.
Before Austria selected Nathan Trent as their entry, he was also on the shortlist of 33 candidates to go forward to Unser Song 2017 to find Germany’s representative to the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kyiv, Ukraine. It is unclear at this stage if he will be replaced in the German selection or not, as only five artists will proceed to the Unser Song final.
After Zoë’s strong result for Austria in 2016, qualifying for the Final and finishing 13th with 151 points, ÖRF are hoping that Nathan Trent can match that and return Austria to the Final for the fourth consecutive year.
Nathan Trent’s most recent single release is “Like It Is”, his début single, which he wrote and composed himself. You can watch the official video for “Like It Is” below.
