Over three months ago, Armenia began their search to find their 2017 Eurovision entrant through their ambitious new show ‘Depi Evratesil’. Tonight the final concluded and Armenia chose Artsvik as their representative for this year’s contest in Kyiv, Ukraine.
The two remaining contestants sang to impress the jury, which included Armenian musicians within the diaspora and the Armenian public. Marta sang Rihanna’s “Please don’t stop the music” and “Only Girl”, whilst Artsvik sang Whitney Houston’s “I have nothing”.
Guest performances included Cyprus’ Eurovision 2017 entrant Hovig, who sang his 2015 national selection song ‘Stone in a river’. He also sang a song in Armenian, which really impressed the audience in the studio.
Iveta Mukuchyan, last year’s Armenian representative, also appeared as a guest performer. Iveta performed her 2016 entry ‘LoveWave‘, as well as her latest single ‘Amena‘.
How Artsvik Took The Trophy
The results were split 50/50 between the jury vote and the public vote. They were revealed to be as follows:
Marta received 19%
Artsvik received 31%
Marta received 10%
Artsvik received 40%
Artsvik was declared the winner of Depi Evratesil with a total of 71%. She will therefore represent Armenia in the second half of the first semifinal at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv, Ukraine, on the 9th May.
