Changes to the format

NRK also announced that due to their underwhelming result last year, which saw them fail to qualify for the first time since 2011,  there would be a minor change in the format of this year’s competition.
In order to send a song that warms the hearts of a European audience, an international jury consisting of 10-12 members will be present and will vote for their favourite act – a winning formula already implemented in many national selections including Norway’s neighbouring countries,  Sweden and Finland.
As in previous years, four acts will qualify and progress to a super final where the winner will be chosen solely by the Norwegian public.
