Martina Bárta has been revealed as the Czech Republic’s representative to the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kyiv, Ukraine, in a now-deleted blog post by 4tothebar, a German jazz group that she has performed as part of over the past few years.
As an upcoming jazz singer, Martina Bárta has found herself working as part of many jazz groups. In addition to the aforementioned 4tothebar, Vocal Invitation also reports that she has been part of Felix Slováček’s Big Band performances and has performed with Marcus Gartschock as part of their own two-person band, Scotch and Soda.
Bárta’s song will be released a future date, with no confirmed timescale as of yet.
The Czech Republic has again chosen their artist internally after the success of Gabriela Gunčíková last year, qualifying the country to the final for the first time. “I Stand” finished 25th in Stockholm, Sweden, and 9th in its semifinal.
You can watch Gunčíková’s performance of “I Stand” below.
