On Saturday evening, the 2017 edition of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest took place. The Maltese public chose Claudia Faniello to represent the country in Kyiv with her ballad Breathlessly. Furthermore, for the first time ever televoting alone determined the winner of the national selection. Only the top three positions were revealed on the night. However, PBS have now revealed the full voting breakdowns from Saturday’s show.
The full televoting results
Overall, during the show 18,967 votes were cast. Lots of votes for a tiny island! The full voting results are as follows:
|7||Deborah C & Josef||Tonight||572||3|
|8||Raquela Dalli Gonzi||Ray Of Light||551||2|
|9||Cherton Caruana||Fighting To Survive||340||12|
|14||Jade Vella||Seconds Away||166||5|
|15||Shauna Vassallo||Crazy Games||159||10|
|16||Miriana Conte||Don’t Look Down||156||9|
As we can see, the hot favourite before the contest wasn’t too far away from the top 3 in the end. Brooke was just 502 votes behind Kevin Borg in third place. Claudia was a very deserving winner, receiving more than a quarter of all the votes with 26.3%. A very impressive feat in a field of 16 entries!
