Just days before the first semifinal of Söngvakeppnin 2017, escxtra’s Wiv sat down with Rúnar Eff to have a quick chat about country music, going fishing with Eurovision royalty…and being too hot…the beach, that is!

This is Rúnar’s first time in Söngvakeppnin, but he is definitely not a newcomer on the Icelandic music scene; he has been recording and playing live shows for years! One of his most successful songs is his own song “Brotinn”.
We asked him if he would sing us a song during the interview, and he whipped out his guitar and did this wonderful cover of Chris Stapleton’s “Whiskey and You”.
