Despite not yet revealing their song, Greece are already considered one of the favourites to win the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest! The country will be represented by Demy who has recorded three potential Eurovision entries. Televoters will choose between the three songs during a national final on March 6th. Demy will go on to perform the chosen entry in the second half of the first semi-final on May 9th in Kyiv.
The three song titles revealed
Today, ERT have revealed the three songs that will battle it out to become Greece’s Eurovision song next week.
- Angels
(Music and lyrics: Dimitris Kontopoulos and Romy Papadea) - This Is Love
(Music and lyrics: Dimitris Kontopoulos, Romy Papadea and John Ballard) - When The Morning Comes Around
(Music and lyrics: Dimitris Kontopoulos and John Ballard)
As you can see, all three entries are written by Dimitris Kontopoulos. One song is expected to be an “American-style” ballad. One is expected to be a “radio-friendly” pop-rock song. The other has been described as a ballad that turns into a dance song for its climax.

Last week, Demy recorded music videos for all three songs in the Ukrainian coastal resort of Odessa. These videos will be presented during the national final next week! Demy chose to film her videos in Odessa for two reasons. Firstly, Eurovision 2017 is being hosted in Ukraine. Secondly, Odessa was chosen for the city’s connections to Greece. For example, Odessa was named after the Ancient Greek city of Odessos!
Last year, Greece failed to qualify for the Eurovision final for the first time. Argo finished in 16th place in the first semi-final with their entry Utopian Land.
