Earlier today, the 2017 Croatian Eurovision entry was played on national radio for the first time. The entry is titled My Friend and is performed by Jacques Houdek. Jacques is extremely popular on the Croatian music scene, winning several national Porin music awards throughout his career. He was also a coach on both seasons of The Voice of Croatia, coaching last year’s Croatian Eurovision entrant Nina Kraljić back in 2015.
When pop and opera collide
My Friend is written and composed by Jacques himself alongside five others. These are Tony Roberth Malm, Siniša Reljić, Arjana Kunštek, Fabrizio Laucella and Ines Prajo. In addition, the song is performed in both English and Italian. Furthermore, Jacques showcases both his pop voice and his operatic vocals on the track by regularly switching between the two genres to create a one-man duet. Very impressive!
Following the radio release, Jacques published the official lyric video of his Eurovision entry on his official YouTube channel. An official music video is expected to be filmed and released in the coming weeks. Croatia will perform in the second half of the second semi-final on May 11th in Kyiv.
