The guest list for the London Eurovision Party 2017 just keeps getting longer as Anja Nissen is the 11th participant to join the roll-of-honour for the 10th Anniversary party on 2nd April at Café de Paris in Leicester Square.
Anja Nissen will be bringing Where I Am to the London Eurovision Party after successfully winning Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2017, one year after she missed out in the super-final. Last year, she performed Never Alone co-written by 2013 Eurovision winner Emmelie de Forest. Nevertheless, this year she co-wrote her entry herself. Therefore, there’s no doubt she’ll be overjoyed the Danes awarded Where I Am such a landslide victory.
Anja, The Voice of Australia… and Denmark!
Anja was born to Danish-born parents near Sydney in Australia. Her first foray into reality TV competitions came in 2008 as Anja reached the semi-finals of the second season of Australia’s Got Talent. Nevertheless, she always considered Denmark as much a home as Australia. Prior to her appearance on The Voice Australia, she performed the Danish national anthem in front of Crown Princess Mary of Denmark.
Anja found mainstream success after winning the third season of The Voice Australia in 2014. Her coach on the show was American hip-hop star will.i.am. She released her self-titled debut album shortly after her victory. The album, consisting of covers performed on the show, hit #11 on the Australian album charts. She went on to record a single with will.i.am titled I’m So Excited.
We can’t wait to welcome Anja to London on 2nd April!
