Rehearsal review

Rehearsing right now inside the Rotterdam Ahoy is Blas Canto, performing “Voy a quedarme” for Spain. We will continue to update this article as each run through takes place, so make sure to keep refreshing for the most up-to-date review!

Blas begins the track acapella, lit up in just a blue spotlight with a starry background. Blas is wearing a black shirt and trousers. The piano backing track comes back halfway through the first verse and we see an eclipse appear on the LEDs with a light source behind a moon. We begin to hear that the Eurovision version of the song is different to what we are familiar with and, from the second verse, we hear quite drastic changes with a faster drum beat giving the song more of a tempo.

Up until the end of the second verse, Blas remains very darkly lit but then he is lit up as we enter the second chorus. At this point a gigantic moon prop descends from the ceiling above him with the starry LED backdrop changing into shooting stars that come towards the camera from behind the moon. Then, for the final chorus, the backdrop changes to a gold starry galaxy with a red-lit moon and golden and pink lights to end.
