Today, it is the turn of the Latvian entry, ‘Line’ by Triana Park, to be reviewed by Dimitris, Katarina, Nathan, Nick, Simon, and Wivian. Let’s get started!

The Reviews

Dimitris

Latvia has grown to become one of my big favorites this year. I love the electro-rock sound of the song, the visuals, as well as the vocals in the performance. I really hope the performance in Kiev is something similar to their Supernova performance.

Katarina

I appreciate Latvia’s habit of always sending something different from the rest, but this song is simply not my cup of tea. I also don’t like the lead singer’s live vocals, however, I am sure this will be a nice break from all the ballads in semi one.

Nathan

Latvia continues its alternative approach to the contest in style this year. This is an enjoyable electronic song with a catchy hook.

Nick

They ask where we draw a line. Well, with those visuals, I draw a huge line. I don’t do drugs, but these visuals make me feel as if I’ve taken acid or something worse. A decent entry, but a step back from the modern tracks they delivered in 2015 and 2016. Abysmal visuals for a decent song.

Simon

Oh hello. This is a welcome addition to the selection for 2017, contrasting with everything else. It could sink or soar depending on the staging, but I’ll cross my fingers for it.

Wivian

I have liked Triana Park’s previous entries much more than this one, and based on the performance in the Latvian final this could be a proper mess live. I still like it, though, since it is very much my kind of music, and I hope I’m wrong about the disaster potential…

I've watched Eurovision for as long as I can remember, but my interest really built in 2008, after I decided to watch the semifinals online, out of boredom, before the final...I was blown away by the quality of the show and have been hooked ever since! I'm a competitive trampolinist and I love baking. I've also just completed a master's degree in Research Methods in Psychology at University College London.
