Now that all the songs have been released, we are able to review each and every one of them. Our honest and brutal reviews will keep you entertained until the rehearsals start in May! We will also each give a score out of 10 for every entry, and create an escXtra leaderboard of the entries! You can see our preview reviews here.
Today, it is the turn of the Albanian entry, ‘World’ by Lindita Halimi, to be reviewed by Matteo, Nathan, Katarina, Ryan, Wivian, and Yassia. Let’s get started!

The Reviews

No, Albania, no. I feel there’s something missing in the song, making it a bit too safe and bland. And it’s in English so we don’t even get the pleasure of listening to some Shqiptar.

Well there’s no doubting that it’s an Albanian entry. Whilst the switch to the use of English is understandable, I kinda wish they’d just changed the whole song…

It’s your usual Albanian ballad full of drama and basic English lyrics. However, Lindita is one of the best live singers this year and her long note is out of this world. I am glad the revamp didn’t ruin this song, it remains enjoyable but nothing special for me.

I’m glad Lindita returned to Festivali i Këngës after success in the USA as S’të fal was bonkers yet amazing! ‘World’ wasn’t as instant but Lindita’s vocals are incredible. The revamped version gives this the added boost it needs which will surely impress juries.

We have a (rather inexplicable) saying in Norwegian, which translates, word by word to “a lot of screaming and not much wool”, meaning putting in a huge effort without really getting anything out of it. I’m thinking perhaps that saying really is about this song…

Just horrible. Don’t really even understand what Lindita is singing about. Seems that she is screaming too loud with no need. Simply don’t like this song at all. Sorry for that, Albania!

Dimitris 10 Rodrigo 6.5
Hlynur 6.5 Ryan 8
Katarina 6.5 Sagheer 5.5

Nick 4 Yassia 2

I've watched Eurovision for as long as I can remember, but my interest really built in 2008, after I decided to watch the semifinals online, out of boredom, before the final...I was blown away by the quality of the show and have been hooked ever since! I'm a competitive trampolinist and I love baking. I've also just completed a master's degree in Research Methods in Psychology at University College London.
