Today, it is the turn of the Croatian entry, ‘My Friend’ by Jacques Houdek, to be reviewed by Dimitris, Matteo, Nathan, Nick, Rodrigo, and Sophie. Let’s get started!

The Reviews

Dimitris

I like the idea of the “two voices” in the song but well it doesn’t appear to be a good result on the song. I can only say, good luck Croatia. You will need it.

Matteo

No. And I’m saying this as an Italian who goes to the Opera every month. Shut it down.

Nathan

Nick

Croatia brings us the most schizophrenic attempt of the year. Good Lord, Jacques really wants to show off way too much. When listening to this, I pretend it’s a duet (a duet with two people, not with one big headed Croatian), as I don’t even hate it. Some say the lyrics are a plus, but those lyrics are just too sugary sweet. After three minutes, I need a dentist. My teeth hurt.

Rodrigo

Who was on what illegal substances when this was conceived? Just no.

Sophie

It’s pretty incredible how different one guy’s voice can sound. Incredible and a bit scary. The cheesily cheesy lyrics are not helping. I would love for him to perform in a reversible boom-boom-boomerang-like outfit, turning around everytime he changes his voice.

I've watched Eurovision for as long as I can remember, but my interest really built in 2008, after I decided to watch the semifinals online, out of boredom, before the final...I was blown away by the quality of the show and have been hooked ever since! I'm a competitive trampolinist and I love baking. I've also just completed a master's degree in Research Methods in Psychology at University College London.
