ESCXTRA: Live from Kyiv

Day 2: Artsvik completes first rehearsal for Armenia – REVIEW

escXtra are live from Kyiv for day two of rehearsals ahead of the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest! The countries rehearsing today, in chronological order, are Greece, Poland, Moldova, Iceland, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Armenia, Slovenia and Latvia. Furthermore, read our handy guide for a more detailed look at this contest’s rehearsal schedule.

In addition, for our immediate reactions to every single rehearsal, you can follow our live stream from the press centre at the International Exhibition Center by visiting our YouTube channel.

The latest artist to rehearse is Artsvik from Armenia. We have just watched her first run through of Fly With Me live on screen and here is our initial reaction.

Summary in a sentence

Very professional performance from Armenia as expected, visuals suit the song well.

Staging

The LED backdrop contains a lot of pinks, blues and blacks. Furthermore, there is similar imagery used as in the music video. Once again, Armenia have chosen to use lots of fast camera shots in places, just as they did with Iveta Mukuchyan last year. Artsvik starts the song alone and is joined by two dancers from around a minute in until the end.

Vocals

Artsvik’s vocals were very solid, nothing to fault here.

Costumes

She was in a black outfit with black jacket. Her two dancers also wore black costumes.

Watch the rehearsal!

Stay tuned for our reaction to Omar Naber as he rehearses On My Way next for Slovenia. Meanwhile, remember to tune in to our live stream from the press centre for instant reactions to each rehearsal.

Ryan Cobb

My first memory of watching the Eurovision Song Contest was back in 2001 and, over the years, my passion and enthusiasm for the contest has very much turned into an obsession. I adore music and I love geography, so this contest is a natural fit for me. If la la loving Eurovision was a crime, I'd certainly be a criminal!
