Day 2: Triana Park complete first rehearsal for Latvia – REVIEW

escXtra are live from Kyiv for day two of rehearsals ahead of the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest! The countries rehearsing today, in chronological order, are Greece, Poland, Moldova, Iceland, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Armenia, Slovenia and Latvia. Furthermore, read our handy guide for a more detailed look at this contest’s rehearsal schedule.

In addition, for our immediate reactions to every single rehearsal, you can follow our live stream from the press centre at the International Exhibition Center by visiting our YouTube channel.

The latest artist to rehearse is Triana Park from Latvia. We have just watched their first run through of Line live on screen and here is our initial reaction.

Summary in a sentence

They have scaled their Supernova performance to the big stage but as a result some of the atmosphere has been lost, but an energetic closer.

As seen in Supernova, Triana Park have brought their neon props to Kyiv. The LED backdrops begins with a dynamic black and white pattern. Around halfway through the song, this changes to a neon backdrop and the LED floor does the same. There is a nice camera shot ascending up through the chandelier to finish the performance.

Agnese’s vocals are ok, not the best but certainly competent from what we could hear.

Agnese was dressed in a black t-shirt with pink leggings and pink hair. The drummer wore a white vest while the guitarists both wore black jackets and jeans. We imagine that this may not be Agnese’s final costume but you never know!

Watch the rehearsal!

That concludes the rehearsals for today! Look out for the latest episode of the XtraVoix podcast which will be uploaded later this evening. Meanwhile, remember to tune in to our live stream from the press centre for instant reactions to each rehearsal.

Ryan Cobb

My first memory of watching the Eurovision Song Contest was back in 2001 and, over the years, my passion and enthusiasm for the contest has very much turned into an obsession. I adore music and I love geography, so this contest is a natural fit for me. If la la loving Eurovision was a crime, I'd certainly be a criminal!
