ESCXTRA: Live from Kyiv

Day 4: Naviband complete first rehearsal for Belarus – REVIEW

ESCXTRA are live from Kyiv for day four of rehearsals ahead of the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest! The countries rehearsing today, in chronological order, are San Marino, Croatia, Norway, Switzerland, Belarus, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Estonia and Israel. Furthermore, read our handy guide for a more detailed look at this contest’s rehearsal schedule.

In addition, for our immediate reactions to every single rehearsal, you can follow our live stream from the press centre at the International Exhibition Center by visiting our YouTube channel.

The latest artist to rehearse is Naviband from Belarus. We have just watched their first run through of Story Of My Life live on screen and here is our initial reaction.

Summary in a sentence

Naviband have enhanced their national final performance with new visuals that make the song become a fairytale!

Staging

The duo perform on a boat while the LED backdrop shows a fast moving cloudy sky which creates very effective flying imagery. The patterns from the Belarusian national final LEDs also appear on the floor at times. Naviband were more choreographed here than we are used to seeing but still maintain their charm and natural feel. They have also added dry ice to the stage to further play on the “flying through a fairytale sky” feel.

Vocals

Both had almost perfect vocals and perfect harmonies, no improvements needed here.

Costumes

Artem and Ksenia both are wearing white with a similar traditional style to what we have seen before. Ksenia is wearing a headpiece as she tends to do which suits her perfectly!

Watch the rehearsal!

Stay tuned for our reaction to Kristian Kostov as he rehearses Beautiful Mess next for Bulgaria. Meanwhile, remember to tune in to our live stream from the press centre for instant reactions to each rehearsal.

Ryan Cobb

My first memory of watching the Eurovision Song Contest was back in 2001 and, over the years, my passion and enthusiasm for the contest has very much turned into an obsession. I adore music and I love geography, so this contest is a natural fit for me. If la la loving Eurovision was a crime, I'd certainly be a criminal!
