ESCXTRA are live from Kyiv for day five of rehearsals ahead of the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest! For the first time, we can bring you live audio from the press centre television screens that show each rehearsal. The countries rehearsing today, in chronological order, are Sweden, Georgia, Australia, Albania, Belgium, Montenegro, Finland, Azerbaijan, Portugal, Greece, Poland, Moldova, Iceland, Czech Republic and Cyprus. Furthermore, read our handy guide for a more detailed look at this contest’s rehearsal schedule.
In addition, for our immediate reactions to every single rehearsal, you can follow our live stream from the press centre at the International Exhibition Center by visiting our YouTube channel. Also, you will also be able to listen live to each rehearsal as it happens and give us your opinions in our live chat.
The next artist to take to the stage for their second rehearsal is Hovig from Cyprus. We have just watched his first run through of Gravity live from Kyiv and here is our reaction.
Staging overview
Hovig has continued to dramatically improve his choreography, everything was pretty much on point the first run through today. There is lots of use of the LED floor in this performance which is very effective and the simple gravity-defying choreography works well. Hovig’s vocals have also been perfected, perhaps now that the choreography has been practised more he is able to concentrate on the vocals once again. The only thing that needs a bit more work is when Hovig lies on the LED floor in the middle 8, he isn’t quite in the centre of the stage which he needs to be to make it work perfectly.
Qualification prospects
Me and Wivian both agree that this will now qualify whereas we believed it wouldn’t prior to rehearsals. I’d give this around a 60% chance as it’s going to be in the lower half of the semi-final top 10 if it makes it.
Watch the rehearsal!
We will bring you video footage from this second rehearsal as soon as we have it!
This was the last rehearsal for today. Meanwhile, remember to tune in to our live stream from the press centre. There you can ask us your questions and tune in to some live stream interviews with special guests!
