The next artist to take to the stage for their second rehearsal is Svala from Iceland. We have just watched her first run through of Paper live from Kyiv and here is our reaction.

Staging overview

Svala has changed her costume for the second rehearsal. She is now in a white outfit with a large cape. The LED contains lots of blues and green, very reminiscent of the northern lights. During the middle 8, the stage darkens to reveal strobe lighting which looks very effective. Of course, Svala’s vocals are great – vocal issues are very rare amongst this year’s Eurovision line-up!

Qualification prospects

I’m really unsure about this one, Svala has definitely made this more accessible to a mainstream audience since the national final. I think she will still be relying on jury support to push her over the line and I’m not quite sure she’ll get enough. 40% chance. On the other hand, Wivian is convinced this is a certain qualifer!

Watch the rehearsal!

We will bring you video footage from this second rehearsal as soon as we have it!

Stay tuned for our reaction to Martina Bárta as she rehearses My Turn next for the Czech Republic. Meanwhile, remember to tune in to our live stream from the press centre. There you can see our instant reactions to each rehearsal and listen to live audio to judge for yourself!

Ryan Cobb

My first memory of watching the Eurovision Song Contest was back in 2001 and, over the years, my passion and enthusiasm for the contest has very much turned into an obsession. I adore music and I love geography, so this contest is a natural fit for me. If la la loving Eurovision was a crime, I'd certainly be a criminal!
