Day 6: Francesco Gabbani completes his first rehearsal for Italy – PREDICTION & REVIEW

ESCXTRA are live from Kyiv for day six of rehearsals ahead of the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest! Like yesterday, we can bring you live audio from the press centre television screens that show each rehearsal. The countries rehearsing today, in chronological order, are Armenia, Slovenia, Latvia, Serbia, Austria, F.Y.R. Macedonia, Malta, Romania, Ukraine, Italy, Spain, Germany, United Kingdom and France. The next artist to take to the stage for their first rehearsal is Francesco Gabbani from Italy. We have just watched his first run through of Occidentali’s Karma live from Kyiv and here is our reaction.

Staging

Francesco charms in a suit from the centre of the stage, with four backing singers in brightly coloured jumpers. Oh and of course the man in the Gorilla suit! It’s perfect because it seems to combine all of his San Remo performances into one Eurovision quality performance. He loosens up throughout the song and starts moving around. Doing the famous arm wave with the monkey and his backing singers. It’s so good. It’s maybe too good.

Vocals

The vocals were brilliant his charm is worked through every note and he is flawless.
