ESCXTRA: Live from Kyiv

Day 7: Brendan Murray completes second rehearsal for Ireland – PREDICTION & REVIEW

ESCXTRA are live from Kyiv for day seven of rehearsals ahead of the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest! As every country has now rehearsed for the first time, there is no more need to mute our live stream. The countries that are completing their second rehearsals today are all in Semifinal 2. They are, in chronological order: the Netherlands, Hungary, Denmark, Ireland, San Marino, Croatia, Norway, Switzerland, Belarus, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Estonia, Israel. Furthermore, read our handy guide for a more detailed look at this contest’s rehearsal schedule.

In addition, for our immediate reactions to every single rehearsal, you can follow our live stream from the press centre at the International Exhibition Center by visiting our YouTube channel. Also, you will also be able to listen live to each second rehearsal as it happens and give us your opinions in our live chat.

The next artist to take to the stage for their second rehearsal is Brendan Murray from Ireland. We have just watched his first run through of Dying to Try live from Kyiv and here is our reaction.

Staging overview

Brendan is still standing on a platform with a hot air balloon above him. However, he has slightly changed his outfit, this time favouring a white t-shirt underneath a white collared shirt with his black trousers. The LED backdrop displays a black and white mountainous landscape that does look effective with the hot air balloon. Brendan also hit the big note perfectly this time round, he seems to have taken it slightly lower than he had done previously. By the end of the performance, the LED backdrop starts to turn slightly red.

Qualification prospects

This immediately looks better than first time round, I just wonder if he’ll either be outshined by Anja or if the song takes too long to grab you in. Something has to miss out and I think this may do, especially with San Marino and Croatia potentially memory-holing it straight afterwards. 40% chance to qualify.

Watch the rehearsal!

We will bring you video footage from this second rehearsal as soon as we have it!

Stay tuned for our reaction to Valentina Monetta & Jimmie Wilson as they rehearse Spirit of the Night next for San Marino. Meanwhile, remember to tune in to our live stream from the press centre. There you can ask us your questions and tune in to some live stream interviews with special guests!

Ryan Cobb

My first memory of watching the Eurovision Song Contest was back in 2001 and, over the years, my passion and enthusiasm for the contest has very much turned into an obsession. I adore music and I love geography, so this contest is a natural fit for me. If la la loving Eurovision was a crime, I'd certainly be a criminal!
