ESCXTRA: Live from Kyiv

Day 7: JOWST complete second rehearsal for Norway – PREDICTION & REVIEW

ESCXTRAย are live fromย Kyiv for dayย six of rehearsals ahead of the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest!ย As every country has now rehearsed for the first time, there is no more need to mute our live stream. The countries that are completing their second rehearsals today are all in Semifinal 2. They are, in chronological order: the Netherlands, Hungary, Denmark, Ireland, San Marino, Croatia, Norway, Switzerland, Belarus, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Estonia, Israel.ย Furthermore, read our handy guideย for a more detailed look at this contest’s rehearsal schedule.

In addition, for our immediate reactions to every single rehearsal, you can follow our live stream from the press centre at the International Exhibition Center by visiting our YouTube channel. Also,ย you will also be able to listen liveย to each second rehearsalย as it happens and give us your opinions in our live chat.

The nextย artistย to take to the stage for theirย second rehearsal is JOWSTย from Norway. We have just watched his firstย run through of Grab theย Momentย live from Kyiv and here is our reaction.

Stagingย overview

The staging is the same as we saw in the first rehearsal and Melodi Grand Prix, although the holograms have now been properly fixed. The vocal distortion post-chorus still sounds fantastic, it could be a studio track for all I can tell but it is apparently in fact a backing singer using a vocoder.

Qualification prospects

This one is very borderline for me. It is one of the most modern and contemporary tracks but it doesn’t completely suit a live performance. Juries should award the song but televoters may leave it considering this comes after the quite bonkers San Marino and Croatia. I’m giving this a 45% chance, I fear it is going to get squeezed out.

Watch the rehearsal!

We will bring you video footage from this second rehearsal as soon as we have it!

Stay tuned for our reaction to Timebelleย as they rehearseย Apolloย next forย Switzerland. Meanwhile, remember to tune in to our live stream from the press centre. There you can ask us your questions and tune in to some liveย stream interviews with special guests!

Ryan Cobb

My first memory of watching the Eurovision Song Contest was back in 2001 and, over the years, my passion and enthusiasm for the contest has very much turned into an obsession. I adore music and I love geography, so this contest is a natural fit for me. If la la loving Eurovision was a crime, I'd certainly be a criminal!
