Today we are celebrating two birthday girls here at escXtra. They are quite different from each other, as you will soon find out. One is from Serbia, the other from Spain. One is 32, the other is 25. One performed as part of a trio, the other was on her own. They have two things in common, though, in addition to sharing the same birthday. First, they both performed in their national language at Eurovision, and second; they failed to finish anywhere near the top of the scoreboard.
Lucia, 32
Lucia Perez represented Spain in the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest in Dusselforf. In the grand final she gave us a good performance of her happy, dancey track “Que me quiten lo bailao”. Despite this she only reached 23rd place out of 25 songs.
Mirna, 25
Mirna Radulovic was one of the three girls who together made up the group Moje3. With their song “Ljubav je svuda” they represented Serbia in Malmö in 2012. They failed to make it to the grand final, but only just; finishing 11th in their semi. However, they did take home a victory from Malmö; the Barbara Dex Award, for the worst outfits.
