The Scoop

Saara Aalto: “Sometime I really hope to do Eurovision of course!”

Last year, we followed Saara Aalto’s remarkable journey on The X Factor UK. From second chance wildcard to the runner-up, Saara’s story is arguably the most memorable in the history of the show. But for Eurovision fans, one question remained… would Saara still want to pursue her original dream of taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest. Today, Saara reaffirmed that the answer is a big fat YES!

Eurovision? “Of course!”

This morning, Saara was casually getting her hair styled so what better way to spend the time than a spontaneous question and answer session on Twitter with her fans? One fan asked Saara whether she had any plans to enter Eurovision, and Saara responded with the answer we all hoped!

It is so refreshing that an artist based in the UK is even happy to just acknowledge a question about Eurovision, never mind dream of taking part! Of course, Saara and Finland’s positive outlook on the contest puts her in a different position to many other UK-based artists. Nevertheless, it is still a pleasure to see that she would still hold getting such an opportunity in such high regard.

The new album will be worth the wait

Regarding her eagerly anticipated new album, Saara has teased its release! However, while we wait we can watch her multilingual, re-written cover of Passenger’s Let Her Go which was released a few weeks ago.

In further exciting news from Saara, she recently revealed she would be a judge on the relaunch of The X Factor Suomi. The show is due to air in Spring 2018!

My first memory of watching the Eurovision Song Contest was back in 2001 and, over the years, my passion and enthusiasm for the contest has very much turned into an obsession. I adore music and I love geography, so this contest is a natural fit for me. If la la loving Eurovision was a crime, I'd certainly be a criminal!
