Norwegian starlet Sigrid talks Eurovision: “I would have pyro and a flame dress!”

“I have ideas!” says Sigrid, when asked about how she would wow a Eurovision audience! Last year, the 20-year-old Norwegian signed a record deal with Island Records. Fast forward to this year and she is one the most hyped new artists on the continent! Furthermore, it seems Sigrid has plenty of ideas on how to win Eurovision if she was given the opportunity…

“I think I would do a mix of different genres”

This afternoon, VEVO published a video to help us get to know the Norwegian starlet. Sigrid is one of the current VEVO DSCVR artists, an honour given only to those artists who are about to take the charts by storm. In the video below at around 50 seconds in, Sigrid is asked: “Hypothetically, if you were to represent Norway at Eurovision, how would you wow the audience?”

Exciting!

“I remember the guy who did opera, hip-hop, pop and EDM in one song!”

Sigrid is immediately excited at the subject, she’s obviously dreamt of such an opportunity in the past! “I think I would do a mix of different genres. I remember the guy who did opera, hip-hop, pop and EDM in one song… that is the wildest track I’ve ever heard!” We think she may be referring to Cezar’s It’s My Life, but maybe there’s another track that we are forgetting? “Pyro is my dream!”

It’s not just the song she’s imagined in her head, she has the performance all planned out too! “I would definitely have pyro, I love pyro that’s my dream!”. Sigrid continues: “I would sing in a flame dress like Jennifer Lawrence in The Hunger Games, yeah I have ideas!” She certainly does, we’d love to see this visions come to life. We think NRK should be begging her to represent Norway, she’d surely earn them a remarkable fifth top 10 finish in the past six years!

Already a chart success

Sigrid released her major label debut single, Don’t Kill My Vibe, in February this year. It has spent several weeks inside the UK charts and has also entered the charts in Australia, France and of course Norway. Her next single, Plot Twist, is expected to impact charts in the coming months. In addition, she also performed at the prestigious Glastonbury Festival last month.
