Rai hoping for at least 65% audience capacity for Eurovision 2022

Last week, the host broadcaster for the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest – Rai – has unveiled the stage design for Turin’s PalaOlimpico. This week, it has been revealed that the Italian broadcaster are hoping to have at least 65% audience capacity in the venue for the contest.

According to Torinoggi.it, Rai are currently planning on having the PalaOlimpico at 65% capacity for the live shows of Eurovision 2022. However, the broadcaster want to enable “as many people as possible” to experience the live shows, Covid-19 protocols permitting.

The report, gave a further update on the progress of training the 400 volunteers who will be on the ground for the event.

A total seventeen Italian cities submitted their candidacy to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2022

After a lengthy bidding process, Rai announced that The Grand Final will be held in Turin’s PalaOlimpico on Saturday 14 May with Semi-Finals on 10 and 12 May, with Eurovillage 2022 set to be located at Piazza San Carlo. The opening ceremony will be located at the Palace of Venaria.

Earlier this month, it was announced that the 2022 contest will be hosted by Laura Pausini, Alessandro Cattelan and Mika. Also this month, filming of the podcasts began in Perugia, and then continued in Umbria.
