Salvador Sobral won the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 with an unbelievable 758 points. After we did the maths, we discovered that under the old voting system, Amar Pelos Dois would’ve smashed Alexander Rybak’s points record, becoming the most popular winner of all time! Now, Salvador’s song has become the most successful Portuguese song of all time on Spotify.
Amar Pelos Dois has been streamed over 7.1 million times (1.1 million times on Portuguese devices). Furthermore, the song has become the most played song in 24 hours in both Portugal and Lithuania! Salvador’s Eurovision win is likely to have been a massive help in achieving this.
Outside of Spotify, Salvador’s Amar Pelos Dois has enjoyed major success in charts around the globe, topping 15 charts and coming top 10 in 14 others!
Salvador is likely to enjoy his summer tour much more after hearing of how successful his song has been!
Salvador’s new project: Alexander Search
Since Eurovision, Salvador has begun a new project! This is a band known as Alexander Search. The group has enjoyed moderate success in the charts, although their first album has debuted at number one in iTunes Portugal!
On 13 July, Alexander Search will perform at Super Bock Super Rock, a well-known Portuguese rock festival. Of his own Portuguese tour, Salvador has just four stops left!
