BTRC confirms Belarus will participate in Eurovision 2018

Belarus have become the latest country to confirm that they will participate in the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest. This news is according to popular Turkish Eurovision website escapenews.org, who confirmed this news in an article a few days ago. This makes BTRC the 22nd broadcaster to confirm their provisional participation in Portugal’s capital city Lisbon next May.

Eurofest to return?

No further details have been revealed in regards to how Belarus will select their entry next year. While we wait for further information, why not read our Throwback Thursday article from a few weeks ago where we discussed our favourite Belarusian entries?

Nevertheless, it is likely that they will their national final format Eurofest. This competition has decided the Belarusian entrant every year since 2012. This year, Naviband were crowned Eurofest winners and represented Belarus in the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest. Story of My Life became the first Belarusian song to qualify for the grand final since 2014. In addition, Naviband became the first Belarusian Eurovision act to sing in their native language!
