It has been revealed that Iceland will once again use Söngvakeppnin to choose their representative! The Icelandic selection will consist of three shows. Iceland’s History in Eurovision
Iceland has used Söngvakeppnin to choose their entry on a number of occasions and every year since 2006. Svala represented Iceland in Kyiv with “Paper” however failed to qualify for the final, coming 15th place in her semi final. Iceland has failed to qualify for three years in a row now so RÚV, the Icelandic national broadcaster, will no doubt be hoping for a better result in Lisbon. Iceland are still yet to win Eurovision. However they have came close on a couple of occasions. In 1999, Selma came 2nd with “All Out of Luck” and in 2009 Yohanna also came 2nd with the beautiful ballad “Is It True?”. Below you can relive Yohanna’s entry!
