The Scoop

Are Alen Đuras and Mia Dimšić front-runners to represent Croatia in 2018?

The rumour mill is beginning to turn in Croatia as we head towards the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest pre-season. While HRT is yet to confirm their participation in Lisbon, two names are being repeatedly linked to Eurovision. Remember, Jacques Houdek was heavily rumoured as early as Autumn 2016. Likewise, Nina Kraljić was a long-term rumour ahead of her 2016 appearance too. So perhaps, these rumours may come to fruition?

From backing singer to the front of stage?

Who are the two names you ask? Well, according to leading Eurovision community forum, escforum.netAlen Đuras is one of those names being heavily linked. Alen, who was a backing singer for Jacques in Kyiv, appeared on HRT’s morning show yesterday. Indeed, on Dobro jutro, Hrvatska, he was asked about Eurovision. Alen explained that he would like to go with a self-written song. In addition, he believes his experience in Kyiv would be an advantage for him. Perhaps he will take inspiration from Imri Ziv’s journey from backing singer to lead singer? Nevertheless, check out his recent single Dotakni mi lice below.

Or could it be Mia Dimšić?

Furthermore, another name linked to Eurovision is Mia Dimšić. Members of several forums, both international and in Croatia, suggest she is receiving a big push in Croatia by her record label Croatia Records. Therefore, Eurovision may be the perfect platform to launch Mia into an international market. Have a listen to Mia’s most recent single, Sunce, oblak, vjetar, below!

Of course, HRT are yet to confirm their participation in Eurovision 2018. However, after two consecutive qualification following their comeback in 2016, surely they will want to keep the momentum going?
