EBU reveals Eurovision Asia Song Contest!

Surprise! For many years there have been rumours and even some plans made for an Asian version of the Eurovision Song Contest. Now, completely out of the blue, the EBU have launched the official Eurovision Asia Song Contest website. The contest will take place soon!
Little is known about the details of the Eurovision Asia Song Contest yet. Although the website says that:

“The Eurovision Asia Song Contest will closely resemble the Eurovision Song Contest.”

Each country will showcase their songwriting and performing talent to Asia and the world to win the first ever Eurovision Asia Song Contest!

The EBU are yet to announce the host of the contest, and actually, they also have not announced the year of the contest. This means that we might not see the Eurovision Asia Song Contest until 2018.

Who will take part?

The EBU are yet to confirm who will take part in the contest, but they have stated that up to 20 countries will compete in one live final every year. Hopefully, as the contest develops, more and more countries will show interest and the contest will develop! It’s worth nothing that the first Eurovision Song Contest only had 7 countries taking part, and now there are over 40 every year!

Eurovision Asia needs your help!

The new website asks users to tell Eurovision Asia about their favourite Asian music. Eurovision Asia are asking “Who would you love to see perform on the stage of Eurovision Asia?”
The website explains:

“The contest will only succeed with the support of Asian pop lovers like you. Who should compete? Who will win? We would love to know what the fans want…”

You can send them your ideas here!

I've watched Eurovision for as long as I can remember, but my interest really built in 2008, after I decided to watch the semifinals online, out of boredom, before the final...I was blown away by the quality of the show and have been hooked ever since! I'm a competitive trampolinist and I love baking. I've also just completed a master's degree in Research Methods in Psychology at University College London.
