Last year, J’ai cherché made him become one of France’s most popular artists. Now, Amir is back with the first single from his upcoming second major label studio album! The track is titled États d’Amour (States of Love) and is a natural progression from his hit singles from previous album Au cœur de moi. This follows his recent collaboration with OneRepublic on a remix of No Vacancy.
The song is purely French pop which we know and love Amir for. The lyrics tell the story of Amir counting down and waiting in his “états d’amour” for his love to return. Nevertheless, the uptempo, bouncy production gives the track an overall optimistic and positive feeling.
Amir represented France in the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest with J’ai cherché. He finished in 6th place, France’s highest placing since Sandrine François finished 5th in 2002. Following his Eurovision appearance, the track rose to #2 in the French charts and was eventually certified platinum. Amir’s album was also awarded double platinum certification! There’s no doubt that French radio stations are going to have this new Amir track on rotation straight away.
