Hakkab looma! Two entries already submitted for Eesti Laul 2018

Estonia’s broadcaster ERR has not opened the submission period yet for Eesti Laul 2018, but it seems two songs have already been submitted.
Eesti Laul’s Facebook account has posted a photo of a package ERR has received with two entries on a CD. The two songs have come from an unnamed Swedish songwriter. This is despite the fact the rules and submission period have not been announced yet by the broadcaster.
ERR have stated however that for entries for Eesti Laul 2018 to be valid they need to be submitted within the correct time period alongside the correct submission documents.

High hopes for Eesti Laul 2018

This is a positive sign for Estonia that there are songwriters keen to enter their songs for Eesti Laul. Estonia have not qualified for the grand final of Eurovision since 2015, so will be hoping for a great qualifying song next year. This year, for Eurovision 2017, Estonia were represented by Koit Toome & Laura, who performed ‘Verona’ in Kyiv. The duo failed to qualify in their semi-final, reaching only 14th place. Estonia in 2016 were represented by Jüri Pootsmann with the song ‘Play’ which came last in it’s semi-final in Stockholm.
A record breaking 242 songs were submitted for Eesti Laul in 2017, so hopes are this record will be matched or beaten in 2018. An announcement for submissions is expected very soon. The grand final for the national selection is set for 3rd March 2018 at Tallinn’s Saku Suurhall.
