PRESS RELEASE
On medical grounds, Salvador Sobral cannot comply with professional commitments scheduled for the next few days. The musician will stop his activity for a few days to regain his health. Therefore, we regret to inform you that the concerts scheduled for Festival F, in Faro (Excuse Me on 31/08 and Alexander Search on 01/09) and Anadia on 02/09 will be cancelled. A new date for the Anadia show will be announced soon.
It is expected that Salvador will begin performing again on 8 September at the International Festival of Culture in Cascais, and we thank the public and the partners of the respective shows for their understanding.

The following shows from his Excuse Me Tour are affected:

  • 31st August – Faro Festival
  • 1st September – Alexander Search
  • 2nd September – Anadia

It is anticipated that Salvador will be back performing on the 8th September at the Festival International de Cultura.

Not the first time health issues caused a problem

Other than the cancellations announced, it is not the first time that Salvador’s health caused problems with him performing.  After he won Festival de Canção this year, there were concerns that he might not be able to make it to Kyiv due to his health condition then.
His health problems also caused him to miss the technical rehearsals. However, this was not much of a problem as his sister Luísa Sobral did the rehearsals and being the composer of the song means she was able to show the same emotions as Salvador does.
Salvador Sobral represented Portugal in Kyiv after their absence in 2016. He represented Portugal with the song ‘Amar Pelos Dois’ which brought Portugal back to the Grand Final and won the contest with 758 points after 49 times participating in the contest.

At ESCXTRA we wish Salvador a speedy recovery and we hope to see you perform very soon. Were you one of the fans that were going to one of the canceled shows? Let us know your comments and opinions below or in social media @ESCXTRA

I started watching Eurovision ever since I moved to the UK in 2006, obsessed since 2012 and haven't looked back since.
