Lena releases ‘Lang Lebe Die Gang’ with GENETIKK

Earlier this week two times Eurovision participant and winner of the 2010 Contest, Lena collaborated with the popular German hip-hop group GENETIKK. The song is entitled โ€œLang lebe die Gangโ€ (Long Live the Gang)

The song which will be on the soundtrack for the Netflix series โ€˜Marvelโ€™s the Defendersโ€™, showcases a different side to Lenaโ€™s past music. From her Eurovision entries and music that has followed, her style has focused mainly on pop music.ย Furthermore,ย Lena isย singing in Germanย and provides a subtle balance to the rap within the song.

Lena herself talks about the song where she says:

โ€œThe different characters in the Defenders donโ€™t really work out together, and thatโ€™s why it was a good idea to bring two different pieces of music together that usually would not fitโ€.

Lena at Eurovision

Lena first participated at the Eurovision Song Contest, back in 2010. Her entry Satellite won with a total of 246 points, bringing Germany their second victory after Nicole won in 1982.

The following year,ย sheย went on to represent her country in Dusseldorf. Her entry โ€˜Taken by a Strangerโ€™ achieved a very respectable 10th place with 107 points.

What are your thoughts on Lenaโ€™s latest collaboration? Should she continue to sing in German? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
